Last July, with the debut of the REDMAGIC 8S Pro, Qualcomm gave us the privilege of being the first to utilize the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset outside of the Galaxy range. The Leading Version of the chipset propelled the 8S Pro’s performance, elevating GPU and CPU speeds beyond what the REDMAGIC 8 Pro offered.

As the tech world buzzes with anticipation, the next REDMAGIC gaming smartphone is set to make its grand entrance in early July. In true REDMAGIC fashion, we’ve once again pushed the boundaries of performance, this time with the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version chipset. This upgrade promises to redefine mobile gaming experiences, bringing unparalleled speed and efficiency to the fingertips of gamers everywhere.
A Little Improvement Goes a Long Way
You might wonder how this version of the chipset differs from the one inside the REDMAGIC 9 Pro. From what we know about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, also known as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version or Overclocked Version, the Cortex-X4 sees a boost from 3.30 GHz on the regular version to a 3.4GHz CPU clock speed on the improved version.
This seemingly modest enhancement translates to significant performance gains. According to Geekbench 6 results, this upgrade enables the enhanced chipset to achieve single-core and multi-core scores of 2319 and 7215 respectively, showcasing its superior computational prowess.

The GPU in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, the Adreno 750, is clocked at 1.0 GHz, as reported by Notebookcheck. In contrast, the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s Adreno 750 GPU operates at 900 MHz. The higher clock speed of the Leading Version chipset gives it a considerable performance edge, especially in graphics-intensive tasks like gaming and rendering. Despite the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s improved cooling system, Android Authority notes that the chipset doesn’t reach its maximum graphics capabilities.
